About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering as EOS Chair.

In this newly established position, working closely with EOS, you will be responsible for shaping the future of Optical and Microwave Engineering within the School, harnessing the power of both research and teaching excellence to explore the frontier disciplines of Optical and Microwave Communication Systems, Wave Propagation and Hybrid Communication Systems.

The role will see you leading initiatives and applications for significant research funding to support projects and activities, building effective strategic collaborations with Australia’s Space agency and Defense Science and Technology and providing leadership in the development of new and innovative course offerings across the School.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, where you will have access to arguably the most well-equipped labs in the southern hemisphere.

About You

Alongside a PhD in the area of ‚Äč‚ÄčOptical and Microwave Engineering (or related discipline) we are seeking candidates able to demonstrate:

  • A distinguished record of scholarly teaching and academic leadership
  • International recognition and demonstrated international leadership in the field of Optical and Microwave Engineering.
  • Significant experience in liaising and collaborating with external agencies (academic, research, government, and/or industry) to develop co-operative research initiatives.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic level E. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate. Terms and conditions of employment, such as strategic start-up packages, will also be negotiated with the successful candidate.

The incumbent is entitled to four weeks annual leave, 10 days personal leave and an additional five days carer’s leave.
