Australia: 6 French teaching establishments approved for 2022-2023

According to a decree of June 21, 2022, the list of approved French schools and educational establishments in the world for the year 2022-2023 is now official. Six establishments in Australia are included.

It should be noted that the approval is awarded to French programs offered in compliance with the values ​​and requirements of the French education system. These programs welcome both French and foreign students. The following list is not a ranking:

1 – Lycée Condorcet, The international French school of Sydney, in Sydney

Inaugurated on February 22, 1989, Lycée Condorcet, a French school in Sydney, is a mixed, private establishment, approved by the French Ministry of National Education and member of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). . It welcomes nearly 1100 students including more than 50 different nationalities, from the small section to the terminal. Only high school classes are approved.

Condorcet High School in Sydney

Created in 2014, it is the only school in Australia to offer a Franco-Australian binational program. The institution welcomes local and international students from countries around the world such as China, Vietnam, USA, Mexico, Malaysia, France, Korea, Germany, and India.

Only the 5th, 4th and 3rd classes are approved. The students concerned have half of the lessons taught in French (mathematics, history-geography, economics, sciences, French) and the other half in English (technology, arts, health, physical education).

Founded in 1998, the French School of Melbourne offers education from the Grande Section to the 6ème. 30 nationalities are represented among the students. The originality of the establishment lies in the concept of pairs: two native teachers, one French-speaking and the other English-speaking, are in charge of a class.

Classes from the Grande section of kindergarten to CM2 are approved. In college, only the 6th grade class is approved.

The Franco-Australian high school is a bilingual public establishment Partner of the AEFE, the school is binational, following an agreement between the French and Australian governments in 1983. In 2021, the establishment has more than 1,560 students of more than 65 nationalities. About 12% of students come from France or French-speaking countries. Only classes ranging from Grande section to CM2 and high school (general route) are approved.

Created in 1969, the Franco-Australian nursery school of Red Hill is a private establishment approved by the French Ministry of National Education and partner of the AEFE. It is entirely self-funded and does not receive any subsidies.

The school offers a progressive immersion program, a fusion of the French curriculum and the Australian early learning framework. Only the classes of Petite and Moyenne section are approved.

Inaugurated in June 2015, Tingalpa State School offers a bilingual and binational program. This year, the school has just over 400 students. The pedagogical team insists a lot on sharing with the students’ parents. Only classes from the Grande Section of kindergarten to CE2 are approved. For the pupils concerned, four days of the week are devoted to French and one day to English.
